Healing

I am interested to hear experiences with injuries and healing. I have read that Chi flow can facilitate as well as accelrate healing. As many of you know and for those that don't, I recently sustained an injury thus my question. Are there any specific techniques used for just healing? Any area specific, i.e. upper body, lower, etc.?

Chi flow helps regulate the

Chi flow helps regulate the overall health of your body and so it stands to reason that proper flow facilitates proper healing. But its not alone in this, also proper blood circulation and oxygen intake, proper diet help too. Not coincidentally, air and food are two very ready sources of chi and blood is a medium of transfer (see how it parallels western medicine?) Chi gong in thenselves (at least none of the gongs I have seen) aren't specifically geared towards say, healing a muscle strain in the lower back. But they can help the healing process in the manner of promoting overall health.

When I get hurt I usually just stick to 10 Methods or Flying Crane chi gong (just the basic stuff) and some Taiji. I'm not sure if you've seen or been taught these, but they are pretty common. Though they are again just for general health. For more specific illnesses, there is one that I was taught called something like The Cosmic Circle which builds chi and flow then you shift focus and work the five major organs in order placing emphasis on whichever is out of harmony, but I'm not a doctor so I'd usually wait until someone could diagnose me. Oh and of course there is standing meditation (something for building chi like Wuji) and follow it up with good ol' Taiji practice. That always works wonders as it keeps you limber, works your muscles keeping circulation strong and of course chi flow. Anything beyond that, there are things you can add. Like good ol' jow, Dit Da Yuan (internal), Yunnun Paiyao (blood) or such things if you have access to them in your location.

In general, just remember to eat right. Regular massage can help prevent any bruising if thats an issue. Keep limber (it helps promote blood flow repairing injury as well as lymph to remove any bad things). Exercise to your limitations, a healthy body will heal faster than unhealthy just don't irritate the injury further. And stick to what you know. Really, Sifu is a library of info and he has a way of teaching you something and you don't even click that he just taught it to you until later and you're like, oh yeah Sifu said something about this! You probably already know more about this topic than you may realize. And you probably already know some good chi gongs too.
